Content DescriptionExplains that he has already applied to the duke for any employment that he might feel fit to award him; hopes the duke will pay some attention to this application; explains that the duke's father had promised that should any misfortune fall on the late Mr Riggs [William Rigg's father] and his family, the Portlands would help them; this was because William Rigg's father had made the bricks for Bulstrode for the Earl of Portland before he returned from Jamaica and made no extra charge for 'staying the bill'.
