Content Description
Describes how Miss Moore was suffering from a build-up of water which needed to be 'tapped'; writes that Mr Cowper performed the operation of making an incision and drawing off 5 quarts of liquid; it has been repeated so that she has lost about 15 quarts in all; she has cold sweats and a weak pulse, and has been taking Rhenish wine 'with some drops in it'; believes she will not survive more than 48 hours; reports that Mr [Bartholomew] Druly is much better; discusses the views of 'a learned Divine' on his method of treating Mrs Moore; thanks 'my Lord Duke' [2nd Duke of Portland?] for his 'kind consideration of my Endeavour'.
