Presents compliments to the duke and encloses an account of the 'Partition Treaties' in which he has tried to do justice to King William [for another volume for his 'Memoirs of Great Britain and Ireland from the dissolution of the last Parliament of Charles II until the Sea Battle of La Hogue' published 1771]; regrets that he did not have the 'materials' to allow him to do justice to Lord Portland; reports that in with King William's papers is a bundle of 30 letters from Lord Portland to the King about the peace of Ryswick conducted by the Lord.
