Note that the section for Markham Clinton, given index number of '688' is not only concerned with the revision and renewal of estate plans, but also contains details of a schedule of Markham Clinton glebe lands, along with a list of tenants and rents.
The sections for the individual parishes largely contain the same information: working papers calculating acreages for each tenant, and various handwritten notes and memoranda; some plans, usually tracings from conveyances, indicating where land has been sold; further plans show the parishes concerned, many with large amounts of extra detail, such as owners or tenants of land, plots colour washed, and occasionally what the property consists of; note that the calculations for acreages also include allotments; lists of queries; correspondence includes requests to see deeds of conveyance or other copies of maps held to ascertain the exact boundaries of land in the parish, or to deal with any discrepancies arising from the boundaries or ownership of the land; requests to the Ordnance Survey for various editions of maps; lists of tenants.
Some sections also include manuscript extracts from deeds of conveyance, especially the schedules, to aid in the revision of the estate maps; note that the Worksop section contains much correspondence with both the Midland Railway Company and the Great Central Railway ascertaining the exact boundaries of land, and the same with the collieries;
Note that a number of the maps and plans marked up, are actual portions of O.S. maps; some maps and plans are also signed to verify the boundaries indicated.
Given consecutive index numbers of '688' to '694' by the estate office.
