Content Description	Thanks him for the Duke of Newcastle's letter, which he returns; discusses politics and the election for North Nottinghamshire; remarks on how changed [the Duke of Newcastle] is from what he was in 69; thinks that [the Duke of Newcastle] has in vain tried to make Gladstone stand by him in his private affairs. Letter is dated 2.1.74 but this appears to be a mistake for 1.2.74 as the letter refers to another letter by the Duke of Newcastle which is dated 29. January 1874 [Ga 2 C 21].
