Admin HistoryThe Board of Conservators of the Trent Fishery District was first constituted under the Salmon Fishery Act of 1865. The first meeting of the Board was held at the Midland Hotel Derby under the Chairmanship of Sir Oswald Mosley on 18 December 1866. The Board was reconstituted as the Trent Fishery Board under the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act of 1923, with responsibility over the whole catchment area of the River Trent, its tributaries and canal system. In 1951 the Trent River Board took over the functions of the Trent Fishery Board.
Custodial HistoryThese documents were part of the accessions transferred by the newly formed Severn Trent Water Authority 1974-1975.
DescriptionThis small discrete group of records which have been identified as the archive of the Trent Fishery Board consists of minute books covering the dates 1866-1937 and financial records from 1880-1951.
