Has spoken with Mr Huskisson who has told him that the Treasury proceedings regarding Colonel [John] Bentinck have been regulated by the reports made by the War Department; says they must refer consideration of Bentinck's claims [for compensation for raising regiments?] to that department; has given the Secretary at War [William Dundas] the papers he [Portland] gave to him; states that the secretary will undertake further enquiry on the subject.
