Claims that he was captured by a French merchant ship and taken to France; says that he made every effort to escape and return to England; says that he was allowed to return to England as an 'exchanged prisoner'; admits that whilst in France he had more 'priviledges then any other English Prisoner'; denies all knowledge of various people whom he is accused of associating with.
