Content DescriptionAssumes that Stanhope has made the proposition of helping the Duke of Savoy; comments on the need to prevent 'mischief' following the death of the Prince[-Bishop] of Lubec; mentions the allegation that this is 'comprehended' within the words of the Treaty of Travendhal; believes that the guarantors of the treaty should begin negotiations in order to assure peace; fears that even Sweden may attempt to interfere in Lubec; hopes that Stanhope will find a way to preserve the peace and to extricate the King of Denmark with 'honor' from this affair; says that he has heard nothing from Mr Buys on the issue of contraband; says that they fear the 'infection' amongst the 'people'; states that Stanhope is therefore to issue no passes without particular orders from either the queen or Lord Marlborough.

This document has been identified as being in the hand of Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford.
