Content DescriptionHopes that Stanhope will be able to settle the contraband issue, if only on a temporary basis; acknowledges that the States have agreed to pay their 'arrears of subsidys' with regard to Portugal; has heard in reports from Portugal that Mr Fagel is acting in such a way as to render the efforts of Lord Gallway 'fruitless'; comments on the damage to merchant and naval vessels from a recent 'storme'; says that Lord Galloway would more successful in his exertions if he had command of the forces.
