Content Description
Says that he has been permitted to go 'into the country' for reasons of his health and settling his 'own affairs'; comments that Mr Secretary Hedges will deal with any matters which may arise when he is away; encloses copies [not present] of the speech of Queen Anne at the opening of Parliament and the unanimous resolution of the House of Commons passed upon it.
Draft of postscript to Mr Stanhope [later 1st Earl Stanhope] in unidentified hand, n.d. [c.4 Nov. 1704]; relays a report that a 'squadron of French ships were come into Gibraltar Bay'; says that Sir J. Leake is preparing to go and 'fall upon them'.
Parts of text missing due to damage to document.
This document has been identified as being in the hand of Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford.
