Content Description
States that British Museum trusteeship is delicate matter; informs him that he received letter in Nov. 1862 from Mr Walpole at Lord Stanhope's suggestion recommending Mr Disraeli; has waited until his opinion has been asked on matter; comments that consideration of appointment is still pending; states that he cannot speak to Lord Palmerston due to difficulty of his position.
Autograph note by J.E. Denison on f 2v reads 'Letters from Bp of Oxford ab[ou]t his being made a Trustee of the British Museum & my answer 1863'.
