Informs him that Lord Sefton is unwilling to write to Liverpool builders Mr Stewart or Mr Foster as he believes they will not be influenced and will support Mr Ewart [in election]; informs him that Mr Rushton has visited concerning election subscription; would be impolitic for him to collect for own brother-in-law; states that he cannot expect financial support from Whigs; Labouchere has undertaken to see friends about finances including Lord Stanley; comments that election will be expensive but in future elections he could expect support of Liverpool merchants; believes the days of Wellington Government to be numbered; comments on Brougham's Reform motion; refers to Wellington's anti-reform speech in session; believes Lord Grey and Palmerston's friends will succeed to ministry.
