Alludes to work of John Burke and his son; refers to Sir William Symonds and ship design of the 'Albion'; comments on Captain Willes' report; refers to narrowing beams in design of 'Albion' and 'Queen'; wishes Lord Auckland to change design now built; believes Admiralty advisers will do harm by diminishing stability of ships.
Autograph note by J.E. Denison on f 4v reads 'The D. of P. Albion & Queen & changes in their build'.
