Ff 3-8 are Lincoln's version of conversation of 10 Feb. 1846; states that as Secretary for Ireland he was unable to give election promises on future course of Irish policy; refers to lack of discussion of Irish questions; refers to necessity of commercial reform; states that he was unable to say more than he advocated liberal reform; comments that he had hesitated to take office as he is at odds with his father; refers to Party views when in opposition to Melbourne government; comments that he could not give pledges at hustings despite constituents views.
