Says he cannot send anything that will be satisfactory to the Duke of Newcastle [regarding mineral rights over the Hafod estate]; gives assurances that he is above political influence; refers to a report made by a surveyor in 1831 in which the Crown's mineral rights were stated to be most valuable and that there was no possibility of putting a value on the property; thinks 'no public Board could be justified in alienating such a property'.
