Content DescriptionThis series of manorial papers forms part of the first deposit of the Newcastle (Clumber) Collection; it ranges in date from 1357-1867 and relates to manors that were held by the Holles Family, Earls of Clare and Dukes of Newcastle upon Tyne, as well as by the Pelham-Clinton Dukes of Newcastle under Lyne.

The series relates solely to manors/bailiwicks in Nottinghamshire, including Bassetlaw, Bevercotes, Bothamsall, Elkesley, Gamston, Kirklington, Maplebeck, Markham Clinton, Newark and Walkeringham; documents relating to manors in other counties, such as Surrey, can be found in later deposits, such as Ne 6.
