|Content Description||Series of miscellaneous inventories and catalogues relating to items housed in the various properties held by the Dukes of Newcastle under Lyne, or auctioned for sale; the majority of the inventories were compiled during the time of the 7th and 8th Dukes of Newcastle under Lyne, and focus quite heavily on Clumber; other inventories cover the Deepdene estate [Surrey], the Castle at Castleblayney [Co. Monaghan, Ireland], Forest Farm [Windsor, Berkshire] and Shockerwick House, Bath.|
The inventories cover furniture, household items, silver, jewellery, china and porcelain, together with valuations and details of a number of paintings from the Clumber collection, on loan to specified institutions.
The sale catalogues are for the sale by auction of furniture, paintings, silver, jewels, books and various household items from the various properties held by the family; the majority of sale items come from the property at Clumber and Deepdene; some related financial papers are included.
