Content Description | Ne 6 D 2/48/396/1: Correspondence between the Great Central Railway, Wigan Coal and Iron Company, Coke Turner and Company, and Arthur E. Elliott [on behalf of Henry P.A.D. Pelham-Clinton, 7th Duke of Newcastle under Lyne] re. compensation for colliery workings under railway lines in Manton, Worksop, dated 1916; [probably orginally part of bundle Ne 6 D 2/48/144].
Ne 6 D 2/48/396/2: Bundle of correpondence between the Wigan Coal and Iron Company and Arthur E. Elliott re. consent for a Recreation Room [Miner's Welfare?] being built at Manton for the population of the new housing [Manton Colliery Village] to be built near the cemetery on Retford Road, dated 1919-1920; [probably orginally part of bundle Ne 6 D 2/48/144].
Ne 6 D 2/48/396/3: Bundle of papers re. the lease from Wigan Coal and Iron Company to Worksop Urban District Council of electricity from Manton Colliery [note that the lease itself is not present]; bundle contains the draft agreement for the above, dated 29 Oct. 1920 and a draft lease from the 7th Duke of Newcastle to the Wigan Coal and Iron Co. of easements and rights connected with the above, dated 29 Oct. 1921; also bundle of related correspondence.
Ne 6 D 2/48/396/4: Bundle of papers re. an extension of the lease of easements and rights refered to in Ne 6 D 2/48/396/3, dated 12 Aug. 1930; also related correspondence and plan.
Ne 6 D 2/48/396/5: Draft lease from the Personal Representatives of the 7th Duke of Newcastle and the London and Fort George Land Co. Ltd to the Wigan Coal Corporation of land and premises on Retford Road, Worksop for Manton Colliery Club and pithead baths, dated 15 Mar. 1932 [probably orginally part of bundle Ne 6 D 2/48/144], note that this lease has been used to draft a later lease to Mr L.W. Walters [Shireoaks Colliery Director] and others of land at Shireoaks for pithead baths, dated 1938; also related correspondence and plans.
Ne 6 D 2/48/396/6: Miscellaneous papers and reports, etc, re. the application by the Wigan Coal Corporation to the London and Fort George Land Company for the reduction of rent on a mining lease [30 Oct. 1896, see Ne 6 D 2/48/142]; also costs re. the release of dredging rights on the River Trent; papers dated 1931-1935. |
