Content Description	First Party: Henry P.A.D. [Pelham-Clinton, 7th] Duke of Newcastle [under Lyne]. Second Party: Wigan Coal and Iron Company Limited. Deed modifying mining lease from (1) to (2) of mines and minerals dated 30 Oct. 1896 [Ne 6 D 2/48/142] to include mines and minerals underlying the site of St Cuthberts College [which were re-conveyed to (1) by indenture dated 30 Oct. 1896, see Ne 6 D 2/48/145]. Conditions of lease includes agreement not to take minerals from under the walls of St Cuthberts College building. Recitals: (a) recites agreement for lease from (1) to (2) of mines and minerals dated 21 Dec. 1895 [Ne 6 D 2/48/141]; (b) fact that it was subsequently discovered that mines and minerals underlying land granted by (1) as the site for St Cuthberts College had not been reserved to (1); (c) fact that the mines and minerals under the site of St Cuthberts College were reconveyed to (1) by indenture dated 30 Oct. 1896; (d) recites mining lease from (1) to (2) dated 30 Oct. 1896.
