Content Description | Declaration of trust from William [Wentworth, 2nd] Earl of Strafford, by the direction of Edward [Howard, 9th] Duke of Norfolk and Charles Howard the younger [later 10th Duke of Norfolk], with respect to several messuages in the Market Place [or Street] of Worksop, Notinghamshire and of 2 farms in the parish of Whitwell, Derbyshire, including one formerly known as 'Steetly'; property is to be held in trust by the 2nd Earl of Strafford for the 9th Duke of Norfolk; full details of the property can be found within the recited indentures.
Recitals: (a) details of an indenture of lease and release dated 23-24 Oct. 1769; (b) details of an indenture of lease and release dated 15-16 Jan. 1770 [see Ne 6 D 2/47/69-70]; (c) fact that the sum of £525., which was the consideration money for the conveyance recited at (a) above, was in fact the proper money of the 9th Duke of Norfolk; (d) the property conveyed by the indenture recited at (a) above was granted to the 2nd Earl of Strafford on trust to convey the same to anyone as appointed by the 9th Duke of Norfolk, and the same for the property included in the indenture recited at (b) above.
