Third Party: Rev. William Ryder of the parish of St Andrew, Holborn, Middlesex.
Fourth Party: Thomas Ryder, esquire of Lincoln's Inn, Middlesex.
In pursuance of the recited acts of parliament at (a), (b) and (c) below, and the chancery court order recited at (g), and in consideration of the various sums of money listed, lease [wanting] and release from (1), with the consent of (2) to (3) of the following property: several messuages and parcels of land in Arundel, Sussex; also a messuage, 10 acres of meadow and 10 acres of coppice in the manor of Byworth and Warningcamp, Sussex; several messuages in Steyning, Sussex; 2 parcels of land in Horsham, Sussex; several plots of land in Storrington, Sussex, one of which lately had a messuage by the name of 'Whitbreads' stood on it;; a parcel of land called 'Fowle Mead' in Dorking and Capel, Surrey; 3 allotments of land, lately part of the manor of Warminghurst, Sussex; a parcel of enclosed land, lately part of the wastes of Ashington, Sussex; several parcels of land in Brockham, Surrey; a plot of land and part of an allotment on Attercliffe Common, Sheffield [Yorkshire]; the fee farm rents issuing from Worksop Manor [Nottinghamshire]; and also a parcel of land on the 'South Common', 2 orchards called 'Bottom' and 'Top Orchard', 'Stable Close', part of 'Hill Close', 'Sloswick Wood' and part of 'Hill Wood', all in Worksop.
The conveyed property is subject to a number of limitations including that the 3 parcels of enclosed land in the parish of Warminghurst containing 21a.0r.22p, and also the parcel of enclosed land, lately of Ashington Common (1a.1r.24p) with all appurtenances to the uses on trust, subject to restrictions set out in 2 indentures of settlement dated 11 Jun. 1767 and 23 Mar. 1771; also states that these settlements by an act of parliament made in 42 George III, were limited to the uses of the several manors and estates settled.
States that as several certain long terms of years have been created as parts of the property granted, fact that some have been assigned to (4) in trust for (1); further declaration that (4) has agreed to attend the inheritance of the property vested in him.
In all cases details of tenants and acreages are provided, as well as details about how the property was originally conveyed.
Recitals: (a) details of an act of parliament passed in 42 George III [1802] [see Ne 6 D 2/47/9 for details]; (b) details of an act of parliament passed in 45 George III [1805] [see Ne 6 D 2/47/10 for details]; (c) details of an act of parliament passed in 50 George III [1810] [see Ne 6 D 2/47/12 for details]; (d) fact that Charles [Howard, 11th] Duke of Norfolk died in 1815 without issue, and (2) became Duke of Norfolk; (e) details of an order in the Court of Chancery dated 19 Jun. 1817 brought by (2), asking for an enquiry whether the properties in Sussex, Surrey, Sheffield [Yorkshire] and Worksop [Nottinghamshire] were seized or properly purchased; (f) details of a report made by the Master of the Court, dated 9 Aug. 1817 [see Ne 6 D 2/47/19 for details of an extract of the report]; (g) details of a Chancery Court order made on the petition of (2), dated 13 Aug. 1817 [see Ne 6 D 2/47/18 for details of an extract of the order]; (h) fact that the court Master has approved this document and the lease for a year also mentioned as a proper conveyance and settlement of the property comprised in his report.
