Content DescriptionRental [available at pp 1-2] includes a full list of the names of tenants, a record of arrears at Lady Day 1838 and those remaining on 1 November 1838; the following places are covered: Bevercotes, Bothamsall, Cromwell, West Drayton, Elkesley, Egmanton, Gamston, Haughton, Holme, Lound Hall, East Markham, Markham Clinton [formerly West Markham and Milton], Martin, Maplebeck, North Muskham, Tuxford, Walesby and Willoughby, and Walkeringham.

The account [which can be found on pp 3-26] provides a record of money received for timber and Spring wood [pp 3-4], and a note of other miscellaneous receipts.

Account also includes details of payments from the estates from 1 June to 1 November 1838, for taxes such as income tax and land tax, repairs, and sundries such as the damage to crops; these are arranged by individual estate, including also Misterton, Wellow and Weston.

An abstract of the payments from the estates collected, arranged by individual estate, is available on p 13.

Also available [from p 15] is a summary of payments from the central Clumber Estate [Clumber Park], including: repair expenses, for example for the alteration of the weighing machine; an account of gamekeepers' wages and allowances; expenses relating to Clumber Gardens and Pleasureground, such as payment for labour, and the sweeping of chimney flues; record of the purchase of coals and timber; details of planting expenses; an account of gratuities; and finally an account of other miscellaneous payments, for business with attorneys, for example.

The annual balance sheet can be found on pp 25-26; this provides an abstract of the receipts and payments for 1838 and indicates that the balance was £4,045.9.2 1/4.
