Endorsed: '1851 - Death of Aunt Esther's baby girl.
Is appalled that first reaction of James Midgley and Tom Ackworth ('Governors of a Religious Body') on the news of the baby's death was that Jacob [Bright] would have to change his will; briefly describes the awful effect of seeing mother and baby laid side by side at [Kensal] Green; states that his father is now sitting up after his illness; alludes to Priscilla [McLaren's] expulsion; comments on his reading of [Mosheim's] 'Ecclesiastical History' and Carlyle's 'Miscellanies'; notes that 'our' carpets and engravings of the tapestry pattern are mentioned in the 'Illustrated News'.
