Admin HistoryThese papers form part of the larger Manvers Collection, and were generated in the course of the management of the family's estate business. For details about the Pierrepont family and their estates, see the collection-level description for Manvers. In subject matter and date, they complement other groups of papers in the Manvers Collection. There are many areas of overlap between these groups, which are catalogued separately because of the date and manner of their transfer to the University.
Custodial HistoryThese papers form a sub-fonds of the Manvers Collection (GB 0159 Ma) and came to the University library in 1978 from the Estate Office at Thoresby, at the request of the Trustees of the Manvers Estate.
DescriptionThese miscellaneous documents are mainly estate papers and maps relating to the Manvers North Nottinghamshire estates. There are also some sale catalogues from the 1940s, relating to Thoresby Hall and its contents.

The estate papers concern properties in the following places:

- Eakring, 1821-1943
- Edwinstowe, 1836-1955
- Kneesall, 1803-1956
- Laxton, subdivided into: accounts 1907-1951, mostly Gaits and Commons Accounts; boundary between Laxton and Egmanton, 1821-1950; Laxton tithes, 1888-1943; tenancies, 1821-1952; plans; survey, 1907-08; and war damage, 1940-48
- Thoresby and Perlethorpe, 1872-1955. Includes sale catalogues of English silver and plate from Thoresby, sold 1942 and 1943

Smaller sections relate to Mansfield, Newark, Southwell, Weston, Worksop and Beighton.

Documents in the maps and plans section are dated 1737 to 1921, and mostly concern Eakring, Edwinstowe, Laxton, Kneesall, and other estates in the area. Many are 6 inch and 1/2500 Ordnance survey publications from the 1880s to the 1920s. The series includes plans of the wartime Proteous Camp in Thoresby Park, 1942.
