Content DescriptionThanks him for the books; is complimentary about his translations but critical of the authors' standard of writing (Samuel Butler, W.B. Yeats and Thornton Wilder); hopes Tal has now received the agreement for 'Lady C' from Curtis Brown and that all will go smoothly; is dismissive of the review in 'Nouvelles Litteraires (see La Ref 7); will send him an autobiographical sketch as soon as his only copy is returned from a man who is lecturing on him; expresses sympathy for Katherine Mansfield and regrets the lack of interest in publishing her; has heard from Kippenberg [of Insel-Verlag] who is emphatic he will not release any of his novels to anybody; gives his personal details and suggests he contact Curtis Brown for dates of publication.

Mentions that his sister-in-law [Else Jaffe] was 'huffy' about his seeing her translation of 'Plumed Serpent'; says he is writing a little book about the Apocalypse - Offenbarung Johannis which he supposes will annoy everybody who reads him.
