Content Description | Thanks him for sending his lecture on D.H. Lawrence [possibly 'D.H. Lawrence, a prophet of the Midlands', a public lecture given in Great Hall of the University of Nottingham, 26 October 1951]; praises the lecture and Pinto's courage in delivering it; describes Nottingham as 'lovely and fascinating'; discusses D.H. Lawrence's love of the Chambers farm [Haggs Farm] and his relationship with Jessie Chambers who 'loved the spiritual Lawrence but had no use for the human one'; whilst writing 'Sons and Lovers' D.H. Lawrence would try to understand his relationship with Jessie; she is glad that Pinto will not let D.H. Lawrence be forgotten on his 'native soil' as his 'roots were in those Midlands, whatever his later life became'.
