Content DescriptionGives details of his travels, first to Baden Baden and then on to Zell-am-See with Frieda's [Frieda Lawrence] sister; did not realise that she had been in Switzerland with Bridget [Baynes]; mentions that he has heard from Mary Cannan that Godwin [Helton Godwin Baynes] was getting his divorce; proposes to return to Taormina in October; finds that he is not able to get any work done in Austria, and is finding Europe 'a bit empty altogether'; says that Robert Mountsier has asked him to lecture in the U.S.A., though he is reluctant because he now has a 'strong distaste for Yankees';

May stay in Florence for September; describes how cheap and pleasant Austria has been; asks about Joan [Joan Farjeon], Bertie [Herbert Farjeon], the children [Annabel Farjeon, Gervase Farjeon and Jocelyn Farjeon], Eleanor [Farjeon] and Alexander [Arthur Alexander]; had intended to visit England but has since changed his mind; recalls the three months he spent in the Black Forest, Germany; signed 'D.H.L.'; the annotation 'Letter 15' has been added in pencil, at the top of the recto (possibly made by Rosalind Baynes at a later date).
