Content DescriptionAddresses her as 'My dear Lou'; is pleased at the work she has done on his 'gilet' [waistcoat]; reports that he is feeling 'very well' and that Ada [Lawrence] has been taking his temperature; continues to be worried that he is still unable to stand up; refers to the visit of Emily [King] and the forthcoming one of 'Eddie' [William Edwin Clarke]; asks her to bring the 'bird' so that they may have it for 'dinner on Sunday', as he can now eat almost anything within reason; signed 'D.H. Lawrence'.

Dated to 'Monday' [18 Dec 1911], the verso of this card is plain, being addressed to Miss Louie Burrows at Coteshael, Cheveney Lane, Quorn, Leicestershire; bears a green half-penny stamp, postmarked in [Croy]don, Surrey at 9 pm on 18 Dec 1911.
