Content DescriptionAddresses her as 'My dear Gertie'; sympathises over her illness; discusses the weather in Italy; informs her that they won't be coming to England before next March because the production of 'David' has been postponed, and they are doing 'The Widowing of Mrs Holroyd' instead, which is much simpler to produce on stage so his presence isn't needed; hopes Ada will go to see the play in London, and stay with Milly Beveridge in Chelsea.

Complains about his English neighbours in Scandicci [the Wilkinsons?]; tells her about a recent social visit from friends, including a young Russian woman who dressed 'like a lad from a public school', which he found replusive - 'Why can't women be women - and a bit charming!'

Enquiries about her [Gertrude's] niece Edna, and other family members and associates including Richard Pogmore; speculates about his forthcoming visit to England; and tells her not to worry about [Dr] Feroze; signed 'Love from us both. DHL'.
