TitleLetter from Alexander Leslie-Melville [later 10th Earl of Leven and 9th Earl of Melville], 21 Upper Grosvenor Street, [London] to George Edmund Milnes Monckton-Arundell, 7th Viscount Galway; 14 July [1879?]
Date1879 c
Extent2 ff
Content DescriptionSends Galway a Peacock, which he hopes will look well at Serlby. Sends best wishes for his happiness.

Date: The letter is simply dated 14 July. It seems likely that the peacock was a wedding gift for Viscount Galway's marriage in 1879.

Note that the wrapper is endorsed in the name of 9th Earl of Leven and 8th Earl of Melville, but it was his son who lived at 21 Upper Grosvenor Street between 1879 and 1889.
