The Nottingham & Notts. Association for the Prevention of Consumption was founded in 1899 as a Branch of the National Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis. The initial benefactor was the Duke of Portland, who granted land in Sherwood Forest for the establishment of a sanatorium. Also known as the Ransom Sanatorium.
