Content Description	Apologises for the delay in answering his letter; informs him he had been organising the Chancery as Sir Harry was due to return; reports that the Kennedys were to leave; hoped the Scottish winter would be as mild as the Japanese; reports that Sir Henry Marsham was staying with him and that they had been to Kioto [Kyoto]; sends extracts from his journal [not present] to circulate to the family; discusses the pros and cons of travelling in winter; hopes they had received the bulbs and that it would be his last year in Tokyo; informs him he was writing to Sanderson asking to be home by Spring 1883; states that he wished to go to Paris or Brussels and asks his father to put in a good word for him when he is next in London; hoped George Bonham has recovered from his accident; sends his love to Lady Buchanan and the Jims [sic].
