Content DescriptionReports that he has had an interview with Prince Gorchakov; Prince Gorchakov has pointed out that in 1866, when the Treaties guaranteeing the maintenance of the German Confederation were abrogated without the consent of Britain and Russia, he instructed Baron Brunnow to urge the British Government to oppose this action, but the British Government remained passive; he pointed out that Russia had taken a course of action to which she had in previous years objected.
