Content DescriptionInforms him that his letter arrived after the messenger had left and that he will keep it until the next as he does not trust the French post; states that peace was signed on 26th but that there was little hope of the evacuation of Tetuan prior to the final payment of the Moorish debt; informs him he had not seen Collantes or the 'Conqueror of Africa' who was still at Aranjuez; reports there was a feeling of good faith in the Mulay Abbas; informs him Mr Weisweiller 'the Rothchild of Madrid' cannot believe that the Moors have money and that he spoke of sending a representative to Tangier to suggest the possibly of involvement in sending the money to London; discusses the incident at Drummond-Hay's brother's house (see Bu 44/4) and the possible involvement of Lord Russell; outline of the official role of Collantes in this matter; states that he was to see O'Donnell.
