Content DescriptionStates that he had learnt from Mr Edwardes of his wish to know if he [Buchanan] complained to the Spanish government about the treatment of the U.S. vessel prior to receiving information from Mr Preston; informs him that he may have done so verbally using information from Tangier; states that he considered the behaviour of Mr Blanco de Valle to be 'reprehensible'; states he will get an official answer for him on the subject of Bills of Health; discusses of how such regulations could have been applied to the incident in question and states that there were few reasons for placing the ship in quarantine; comments on the need for the reform of Spanish sanitary laws; uses the example of traffic between Dover and Spain and Calais and Spain.
