Refers to correspondence sent from Calderón Collantes to General Almonte and comments that matters have not yet improved; reports that His Excellency suggests that to improve relations, General Almonte should tell the Spanish Government that Mexico acknowledges the 'principle of indemnity to the Spanish subjects at San Vicente'; in addition suggests the treaty of 1853 should be re-established and ministers be appointed in both countries; reveals that His Excellency considers the motive for the assassinations at San Vicente to be political; reports that the Spanish Government are 'most anxious that the question should be settled in an amicable manner'.
