Content Description
Concerns the capture of the British vessel the 'Louisa'; refers to a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Mr Salaverina, during which a letter from Vice Consul Mr Glynn was discussed; explains the letter reveals that the authorities at Algeciras [where the 'Louisa' was taken after capture] have called the act 'an unjustifiable and piratical violation of the British flag'; reveals Her Majesty's Naval Forces at Gibraltar may be employed to 'restrain the irregularities of the Spanish revenue vessels in the Straits' even though this action may appear hostile to Spain; criticises the Board of Customs for believing the evidence put forward by the captors rather than the explanations offered by the owners of captured vessels.
