Content DescriptionRefers to a conversation with Calderón Collantes concerning the capture of the 'Heron'; reveals that when Mr Collantes was questioned about Spain's right to claim the 'zone of 6 miles from the coast claimed by Her Catholic Majesty's Government as Spanish waters' he replied that 'reciprocity was the best principle for the arrangement of such questions'; explains that if the British Government entered into such an arrangement it may help persuade the Spanish Government to 'abandon their exaggerated pretensions to jurisdiction over the seas on the Spanish and Cuban coasts'.
