Content Description
Reveals the Spanish Government cannot find any documents showing that the stores supplied to them during the Civil War of 1835 were ever received; reports that unless receipts can be produced to show that Spanish authorities received these stores, the Spanish Government will feel under no obligation to repay the debt; explains the absence of these documents is due to a fire in the War Office and to the 'unsatisfactory manner in which accounts seem to have been kept during the confusion of the Civil War'; reveals the receipts appear to have been forwarded to the Spanish Government in 1835; reports that if these documents can be produced the debt will be settled in a fortnight.
