Content DescriptionReveals the debt owed by Spain to Great Britain for arms and ammunition supplied during the Civil War of 1835 has not yet been settled because the archives of the War Department of the Spanish Government 'have been found very suspect'; reveals Calderón Collantes has requested a 'detailed statement of the claim' from the British Government; explains the Spanish Government has not yet agreed to the terms of repayment; reveals the British Government are prepared to allow the debt to be repayed over a greater number of years than originally agreed; expresses surprise that the Spanish Government had not 'been able to satisfy themselves from the documents in their possession that they owed to Her Majesty's Government the sum of £564,169.'
