Content Description
Refers to a meeting with Calderón Collantes; reveals the United States will not support the use of force by Spain against Mexico; explains the United States may invade Cuba; reveals Spain has no intention of interfering with the 'internal affairs of Mexico' but comments that she 'could not and would not' quietly look on while Spanish subjects were exposed to danger; reveals that Great Britain and France have offered their mediation; explains that if Spain is left alone she 'will trust to her own resources for accomplishing her object', and that the presence of Spanish troops in Mexico could lead to the invasion of that country by the United States; comments that the position of Spain in this question is a difficult one.
