Content DescriptionRefers to a meeting between Mr Nesbitt and the Minister of Finance concerning a claim made by Messrs Foster and Braithewaite against the Spanish Government; explains that, despite assurances, the claim remains unsettled; comments that the war between France and Austria has reduced the value of the Spanish Bonds; reveals Mr Nesbitt has withdrawn his offer to sell the Bonds to the Spanish Government and that he is most unsatisfied with the situation; explains a note has been sent to Calderón Collantes stating that the Spanish Government will be held responsible for any loss incurred by Messrs Braithewaite and Company, and accusing the Government of promoting 'objects in which they have no responsibility or interest'.
