Content DescriptionRefers to a note received from Calderón Collantes stating that the Spanish Government refuses to accept a claim for compensation made by the British Government, for injuries sustained by British vessels near the fortress at Tarifa; discusses a circular Mr Collantes claims to have written, explaining the circumstances under which vessels would be attacked, but explains that Her Majesty's Government could not have seen this document, as an objection to the practice would have been raised; explains that if Spain cannot prove that other European states employ such practises, she will be obliged to offer compensation.
