Content DescriptionReports that a naval and military force is about to leave Spain for Mexico, where it will take advantage of Mexico's distracted situation; the United States will not consent to the subjugation of an Independent State of the American Continent by a European power; instructs him not to make any official comment to the Spanish Government, but to take the opportunity to make the American Government's feelings on the matter known to Mr Collantes; the United States does not wish to interfere in matters between Spain and Mexico; the American Government needs to know the strength of the Spanish force and what are its objectives.
