Content DescriptionDiscusses the recent interference of the civil authorities in the activities of the British Protestant Congregation at Bilbao; the Minister of Grace and Justice has said that the Congregation had been infringing the law, and therefore had to be warned, but the Spanish Government had no wish to interfere in their private practices; Mr Negreti then said that the Spanish Government would do everything possible to improve their position and introduce greater religious toleration, on the condition that the Protestants worshipped discreetly; comments on the fanatical Catholicism of the Queen.
