Content DescriptionReports that the Spanish Government is being secretive about other persons suspected of involvement in the Carlist rebellion; it is rumoured that the King was not entirely opposed to it; Mr Salamanca is suspected of giving financial support to the rebels; not only are the reactionary party considered to have abetted the rebels, but also some of the Progressivistas; some, including the French Ambassador, believe that the Queen's abdication is likely; many people are annoyed with him for the persistence with which he pressed for General Ortega's pardon.
