Content DescriptionDiscusses the likely punishment of the imprisoned Carlist rebels; Mr Collantes has stated that the Queen wishes the Carlist Princes to be treated with consideration of their rank, and wishes all to be pardoned; the Government however is mindful of the fact that General Ortega has seriously breached military duty, compromised the arms of his country in Africa and left one of Spain's most important fortresses defenceless; he [Buchanan] has urged leniency, but suspects that Mr Collantes thinks he should face capital punishment.
