Content DescriptionReports that General Ortega, Captain General of the Balearic Islands, has landed at San Carlos de la R pita and raised the Carlist flag; the Spanish Government was expecting this; the Marquis of Havanna has been ordered to assume the Captain-Generalship of Valencia; it is said that General Ortega embarked the garrison of Majorca on board two steamers, one French and one English, which he hired at Marseilles, and to have told the Captain General of Catalonia that he was going to Minorca to put down an insurrection; he had previously been suspected of infidelity; he is a friend and relative of Mr Collantes; 40-50 men have taken up arms at Granda de Durro; discusses the measures taken by the Spanish Government to put down the rebellion; reports that there has been much uneasiness in Madrid for the last few days.
