Content DescriptionReports on a discussion he has had with Mr Collantes on the matter of Mexico, and whether there was any prospect of Britain, France and Spain joining together to prevent Mexico from being absorbed into the United States; he [Buchanan] stated that the British Government has shown no interest in intervening in Mexico; he believes any intervention of European Powers would be futile; in England the opinion is growing that if settled government were established in Mexico the country would make a considerable contribution to the commerce and prosperity of other states.
